It was always going to be a difficult trip in some ways, getting the first flight back into New Orleans from San Diego after Hurricane Katrina had left devastation in her wake and the clean up was only just getting started, but it was one Conway Bowman and I wanted desperately to undertake. It was our way of helping show support for all the local Louisiana fishing guides, stores and outfitters who desperately needed anglers to start returning to get some income flowing for them. Guided by well-known local Captain Gregg Arnold we had 3 days in the marsh to check out if the redfish had survived the tidal surges which they had and they were hungry!

I have scanned and reproduced the article below which I believe was the first one to be published about fishing post-Katrina thanks to the support of Fly Fishing in Salt Waters magazine (now sadly closed).
